Your National Body

As a member of the MWOA, you automatically become a member of the National Works Officers Association (NWOA) which was formed on 15 September 1999.

The NWOA comprises the following organisations:

  • Municipal Works Officers Association Victoria Inc
  • Local Government Supervisors Association Western Australia Inc
  • Local Government Supervisors Association NSW (Sydney metro)
  • Tasmanian Association of Municipal Supervisors Inc
  • Works Officers Association of Queensland Inc

The objectives of the National Works Officers Association are to:

  • Promote the general advancement of professional skills and education within Local Government;
  • Define, establish and maintain the professional competencies and standards necessary in Local Government;
  • Promote the development, advancement and improvement of skills amongst members whilst providing the opportunity for fellowship;
  • Provide a range of information services to all State members, including a national newsletter;
  • Sponsor an International Study Tour to be undertaken annually by a financial member;
  • Ensure national alignment of qualifications through TAFE; and,
  • Develop a national syllabus, data base and web site.
  • Participation with Australian Standards.
