Membership of LGSA

Membership is available for those working in a supervisory capacity in Local Government and for corporations who regularly supply products and services to Local Government.

Membership Criteria - General Info

Those people eligible for Membership shall be:

  1. Those Officers of Local Government, paid under a Municipal Supervisory Officers scale.
  2. Those Officers paid under another scale of rates, but who carry out the functions of "Supervisory Officer".
  3. Retired persons previously having qualified, shall remain eligible to be Members.
  4. Once admitted to "Full Membership" status, a member shall be entitled to indefinitely retain his / her membership status, provided that they always remain financial and that they are not subject to expulsion through Section 15 of the Constitution.
  5. Application must be made on the appropriate electronic form.

    Such applications will firstly be considered by the Management Committee to determine eligibility.

    Then you will be invoiced for the Annual Subscription fee, fixed from time to time at the Annual General Meeting.

  6. Each member shall pay to the Association annually, (by the Annual General Meeting) or other such date as the Committee from time to time determines, all subscription fees due.

  7. A member whose subscription is not paid within Three (3) months after the relevant date fixed by, or under sub-clause six (vi) ceases on the expiry of that period to be a member, unless the Committee decides otherwise.

  8. Any person whose application shall have been rejected by the Association, shall be entitled to appeal in writing against the decision thereof to the next General Meeting of the Association, and a seventy five percent (75%) majority of members present at such meeting may by resolution uphold such appeal.

  9. The Association shall have power to confer "Honorary Life Membership" on any member who has rendered special services to the Association. Nominations for "Life Membership" shall be on the recommendation of the Management Committee, submitted to the Annual General Meeting of the Association, and shall be confirmed only by a seventy five percent (75%) majority of voting members present at such meeting. Other members wishing to nominate another member for "Life Membership" status, will need to apply in writing to the Management Committee, with all relevant details of the nominee and reasons for the nomination. The nominations for "Life Membership shall be made on the appropriate printed schedule Form .5.

Only one (1) "Life Membership" being conferred in any one (1) year, unless decided otherwise by the Management Committee. Such "Life Membership" having full power to vote at all meetings.

Membership Criteria - Full ($35) + GST or Retired Members ($5) + GST

Full or Retired Membership

Those eligible for "Full Membership" shall be:

  1. All "Supervisory Officers" employed in Local Government.

  2. For the purpose of "Full membership" eligibility, "Supervisory Officers" are those who have responsibility for either the whole of a Municipality's outside works, or a defined and specific part thereof, or is titled as a Supervisor of inside personnel.

    In the case of Authorities with a Staff Engineer or Engineers, or in the case of Authorities in which the Clerk assumes a Supervisory role of the outdoor works,

    "Supervisory Officers" (eligible for Full Membership of the Association) shall be those directly responsible to the Engineer or Clerk, who supervise the outdoor works, or any person who holds a Supervisory position within Local Government.

  3. Any Leading Hand who is employed in Local Government, and who is in charge of any outside employees, and has held this Supervisory position for a period no less than two (2) years.

  4. All Full Members of the Association to have power to vote at all meetings.

Membership Criteria - Associate Members ($35) + GST

Associate Membership

All Supervisory personnel not being employed in Local Government, but other areas directly associated with Local Government, shall be eligible for "Associate Membership".

Such Membership to entitle full participation in meetings and other activities of the Association, but to carry with it no power to vote.

Any Associate member who is a financial member and who has filled out the appropriate nomination form for a vacancy on the committee, pass through the annual general meeting process, and has been elected for the position that has been applied for, shall have all the benefits conferred upon it by the executive Committee "Full Members".

Membership Criteria - Corporate ($80 Standard) + GST or ($200 Platinum) + GST

Corporate Membership

Public Authorities, Organisations, Business Houses, or those persons whose interests are connected with the work of the Association, may be admitted at the discretion of the Management Committee, as Corporate Members of the Association.

Such Corporate Members may appoint a representative / s, who shall be entitled to attend meetings of the Association and take part in discussions, but to carry no power to vote.

Standard Membership Package $80 + GST

  • Welcome letter & Information pack.
  • Membership Certificate.
  • 12 Months membership to the LGSA of WA Inc.
  • The opportunity to appoint a company representative, who shall be entitled to attend meetings of the Association and take part in discussions, but with no power to vote.
  • The opportunity to nominate at the Annual General Meeting for any of the following positions on the State Executive Management Committee - "Secretary, Junior Vice President or Committee person", when a position on the management Committee in the above areas becomes available. (See Committee of Management section in Constitution)
  • Company name mentioned with contact details (including web address) on the LGSA of WA Inc. web site.
  • Free copies of "National" newsletter (2 per year).
  • Entry on the association mailing list for any special offers, including the Annual State conference.
  • The opportunity to be able to directly network with sections of the state supervisory personnel in Local Government.

Platinum Membership Package $200 + GST

All of the above privileges included in the "Standard Package" plus the following:

  • The opportunity to have an advertisement banner on the LGSA of WA Inc. web site.
  • 10% discount on conference booths or bays sponsorship.
